As Donna pursued her educational goals and worked toward her SPHR and SHRM certifications, friends who owned small, local businesses would come to her with questions about HR. She would freely lend an ear and give advice. Over the years she continually heard the statement “We wish there was a service out there to help us with these challenges” which became the inspiration for founding Rogers HR Consulting.

Founder and CEO of Rogers HR Consulting, Donna Rogers Skowronski, graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Human Resources Development (HRD) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). While studying at U of I she was initiated as a member of the International Honor Society in Education: Kappa Delta Pi and the Professional Society of Vocational Education: Omicron Tau Theta. Her Human Resources career began in 1991. Ten years later she was certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and has continued to recertify currently through February 2025. She also earned the Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and has continued to recertify currently through February 2025. Most recently she earned the International Public Management Associations Certified Professional (IPMA-CP) designation which does not expire until December of 2025.
After being certified, along with her years of work experience, she was considered professionally qualified to teach at the college level under AACSB requirements and joined the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) as an adjunct faculty member in 2002. She continued teaching on an “as needed basis” at both UIS and Robert Morris College until 2008 when she joined the UIS College of Business and Management (CBM) full-time. There she served as an instructor of Human Resources Management (HRM), Managing Organizational Behavior (OB), and Strategic Human Resources Management until May 2020. She taught online, blended, and face-to-face classes. She also mentored job seekers and previously taught a Career Management (CM) and Organizational Development (OD) course. In 2011 she earned her Master Online Teacher Certificate from the Illinois Online Network (ION).
Company and Personal Awards consist of winning the 15 Under 15 and the Small Business of the Year awards. Additional personal professional awards include: 50Over50HR ~ Excellence Over Time in HR Nominee, Lifetime Achievement in HR Award and the HR Professional of the Year from the Central Illinois Chapter of SHRM (CIC-SHRM); 40-Under-40 Selectee for Springfield Business Journal; and Supervisor of the Year from Springfield Public Schools for mentoring a student worker.
